USA Baseball Names 2024 18U National Team Roster
CARY, N.C. – USA Baseball today named the roster for the 2024 18U National Team following the conclusion of the 18U National Team Training Camp in Cary, North Carolina. The 20-player roster is set to compete in the 2024 World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) U-18 Baseball World Cup Americas Qualifier in Panama City, Panama, from August 2-11. “After a tremendously competitive Training Camp, we are excited to name our final twenty-player roster,” said 18U National Team Manager Rick Eckstein. “We believe that we have put together a roster that is built to win and represent the United States well in international competition. We will spend the next week and a half preparing to the best of our abilities to win a gold medal in Panama.”

Drowning victim's body pulled out of Neuse River after 2-hour search
A 2-hour search ended with sad news as Wake County Sheriff's Office recovered the body of a swimmer.Deputies said at around 5:30 p.m. a man swimming in the Neuse River near the Neuse River Greenway Trail and Loch Raven Parkway went underwater and never came back up.Water rescue crews rushed to the area and worked frantically to find the man.Two hours later, the crews found his body.Wake County Sheriff's Office said his identity would not be released until his next of kin could be notified.

A rabies notice was issued in Wake County after a fox bit a woman Thursday in Knightdale.It happened in a neighborhood near the corner of Kemp Drive and Hodge Road. According to Wake County, the woman attempted to break up a fight between the fox and a cat.Wake County Public Health and Wake County Animal Control confirmed the fox was captured and later tested positive for rabies.The cat involved has not been located yet.No other incidents have been reported in connection with the fox or cat. RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — One person is hurt after a shooting at a residence near Lake Boone Trail in Raleigh early Sunday morning.
