Buccaneers RB Details 'Big Change' In Second NFL Offseason

    By Adam Schultz,

Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Sean Tucker is busy making up for lost time after a first year that was one to forget.

Tucker's undiagnosed heart condition prevented him from competing in the scouting combine drills, which is why he went undrafted by the Buccaneers. He also did not participate in OTAs, minicamps, or training camps, as he was consistently getting tested, which left him behind the eightball.

And that's not ideal for a rookie.

But now, after having gone through a full preseason of work, Tucker, who was again one of the positives in Tampa Bay's 24-14 win over the Miami Dolphins to complete their preseason schedule, revealed the differences from last year to now.

“I say that it was easier just in the fact that you know, more comfortable,” Tucker said . “Just doing everything for the second time so you know what to expect coming into this year and being able to focus on little details compared to last year, so I feel like that's been a big change.”

Tucker has been the surprise packet of the preseason, with the second-year back putting forth good performances.

In the Buccaneers' first preseason game against the Cincinnati Bengals, Tucker totaled 68 yards from 10 carries; in the second game against the Jacksonville Jaguars, Tucker had 32 yards from four carries before finishing off with 20 yards from seven carries against the Dolphins.

That's a solid body of work, and with the Buccaneers' running back room in good shape with Rachaad White, Bucky Irving, and Chase Edmonds, the competition for spots is hot.

But maybe Tucker's ability to perform as he did with a full body of preseason work behind him will be a deciding factor when Tampa Bay cuts its roster from 90 down to 53 in the coming days.
