As the Memphis Grizzlies prepare for the 2024-25 NBA season, hopes are high for a bounce-back year after a challenging 2023-24 campaign marred by injuries and suspensions. With the return of key players like Ja Morant and Marcus Smart, and the addition of rookie Zach Edey, the Grizzlies are poised to reclaim their spot in the Western Conference playoffs. Chris Dodson of ClutchPoints offers his prediction for how the season could unfold.

    Strong start sets the tone

The Grizzlies' season begins with a favorable schedule, featuring four of their first six games at home. Dodson predicts Memphis will capitalize on this, kicking off with wins against the Utah Jazz and Houston Rockets, followed by strong performances against the Orlando Magic, Chicago Bulls, Brooklyn Nets, and Milwaukee Bucks. By the end of November, the Grizzlies could be sitting at an impressive 15-5, setting them up as early contenders in the West.

    December challenges test the roster

As the calendar flips to December, the Grizzlies face a more demanding stretch. Dodson notes that while the team will likely remain competitive, road games against the Dallas Mavericks, Boston Celtics, and Golden State Warriors will present significant challenges. However, Memphis should still manage to secure a solid record heading into the new year, with a predicted 22-9 mark by the end of December.

    Mid-season grind and playoff push

The mid-season stretch will test the Grizzlies' depth and resilience. February’s lighter schedule, combined with the NBA All-Star break, offers a chance for the team to regroup. Dodson foresees a tough March, with a grueling five-game road trip and challenging home games against the Suns, Knicks, and Hawks. However, a favorable April schedule should allow Memphis to finish strong, securing a playoff berth with a final record of 47-35.

    Final record prediction: 47-35

Dodson predicts that while the Grizzlies may not reach the 50-win mark, they will still secure a top-six seed in the highly competitive Western Conference. With a healthy roster and key contributions from star players like Ja Morant and Jaren Jackson Jr., Memphis is set for a deep playoff run.

This prediction offers a hopeful outlook for the Memphis Grizzlies' 2024-25 season, with the potential for the team to reestablish themselves as a top contender in the West.
