Dabo Swinney Makes Controversial Change To His College Football Radio Show

Clemson Tigers head coach Dabo Swinney is making a notable change to his college football radio show for the 2024 season. Fans will no longer be able to speak to Swinney live on the show, multiple reports confirmed on Monday ahead of the first show of the season.

Swinney's “Tiger Calls” reached new heights last season when "Tyler from Spartanburg" called in and criticized Swinney for the state of the program. The Tigers were in the midst of a disappointing 9-4 season when the call took place. Swinney fired back with a six-minute rant that found the national spotlight.

According to reports, the live calls were not dropped because of the incident.

While Swinney and Clemson maintain that this change is not a result of the viral confrontation last season, the timing is too intriguing to ignore. It makes sense for a marquee program to do away with opportunities for fans to berate its head coach on live radio, especially considering the amount of attention garnered from the experience in October of 2023.

Though it will make for less of an entertaining listen moving forward.

The show, hosted by Tigers play-by-play broadcaster Don Munson, will air on Monday as Clemson prepares to open the 2024 season against the AP No. 1 Georgia Bulldogs in Atlanta.

Kickoff from Mercedes-Benz Stadium is set for Aug. 31 at noon ET (ABC).
