Prediction: 3 Vikings that won't make the final 53-man roster

The Minnesota Vikings have wrapped up the preseason and now it's time to make the final cuts for the 53-man roster.

Teams have until Tuesday to get down to their final 53-man roster and while some players have played their way onto the team, others will be looking for a chance elsewhere.

On Monday, the Vikings already announced 14 roster cuts from the team.

Here's a look at some of the players not in the initial cuts that are on the bubble who could be wearing a new uniform by the deadline on Tuesday.

    Lewis Cine

The 32nd overall pick in the 2022 draft, Cine is the poster child for what has become a lost draft class. Buried on the depth chart coming into training camp, Cine put himself further behind after suffering a lower-body injury and saw five players (Harrison Smith, Camryn Bynum, Josh Metellus, Theo Jackson, Bobby McCain) ahead of him on the depth chart.

Cine showed signs of life in the second preseason game against the Cleveland Browns, recording 11 tackles, a sack and an interception. But he also played every defensive snap, which is usually a sign that teams are trying to showcase a player for a trade.

The Pioneer Press's Dane Mizutani also called Cine "basically invisible" on the Purple Insider podcast and said "we can stop talking about him," after Cine had one tackle in Saturday's win over the Philadelphia Eagles.

This puts Cine on the block – a position he's been in since Brian Flores took over as defensive coordinator last season. With the writing on the wall, it appears Cine's days could be numbered.

    Bo Richter

Richter has been a standout during the preseason and a fan favorite after logging a sack and a tackle for loss during the first game against the Las Vegas Raiders. But while Richter has been impressive, he could be a victim of the numbers game in the front seven.

The Vikings' edge rusher group has improved over the offseason even after the departure of Danielle Hunter. Dallas Turner was impressive during his preseason action against the Raiders and fellow edge rushers Andrew Van Ginkel, Jonathan Greenard and Jihad Ward are locks for the roster.

Even if Richter is considered an interior lineman, there may not be room. Harrison Phillips, Jerry Tillery and Jonathan Bullard have the starting spots locked down and Jonah Williams, Levi Drake Rodriguez and Taki Taimani are candidates to make the roster as reserves.

This leaves Richter as a candidate for the practice squad but he could come into play if the Vikings have injuries throughout the year. That is, if he isn't picked up by another team.

    Akayleb Evans

Most of the Vikings' roster feels set, but there are usually a few surprises leading into cutdown day. While the Vikings have a need for corners, they could be looking to replenish draft capital and make room for younger talent, which could mean Evans could be available via a trade.

The Athletic's Alec Lewis hinted at this possibility during his 53-man roster projection citing that trading Evans could pave the way to keep a younger prospect such as fellow cornerback Dwight McGlothern. Lewis also mentioned Cine and Brian Asamoah as potential trade targets but it's uncertain what the Vikings would get in return.

Still, the Vikings might have to get creative to keep the players they want on the final roster and a player like Evans could be a name to watch ahead of Tuesday's deadline.
