2025 Top 10 Guard will Announce Decision Next Week

After picking up a commitment from in-state big man Malachi Moreno in the 2025 class a couple of weeks ago, Kentucky could be on the verge of landing another major prospect with in-state ties very soon. According to On3's Joe Tipton , 2025 top 10 guard Jasper Johnson will make his decision next week on September 5 at his hometown high school in Woodford County.

Kentucky is seen as the team to beat in his recruitment after making up some ground in the last week with Johnson. The five-star guard will make his decision between Kentucky, Alabama, and North Carolina, with Arkansas and Louisville no longer in contention for his services. The closest school to Kentucky heading down the stretch of the recruitment is Alabama, but the Wildcats are looking like the heavy favorite. Mark Pope has made sure that he will prioritize in-state targets, and he's showing that with the 2025 recruiting class.

Johnson recently talked with Tipton about his relationship with the staff and thoughts on the Kentucky program. "I like them," Johnson said about the Kentucky staff. "I got to meet them last month I’m pretty sure. Got to meet them and talk to them for a few minutes. Got to watch them practice and heard (Pope’s) message. Just got to see them play so just building that relationship. I know its his first year at Kentucky, but I feel like he will do a good job with the team he has this year."
