The Cincinnati Bengals are now officially less than two weeks away from opening day and the regular season following the conclusion of the preseason last week.

One of the big questions for the team throughout the offseason was who will replace Tyler Boyd as WR3 in the slot. With no shortage of options including second-year players Andrei Iosivas and Charlie Jones , the one player everyone has been talking about since April is third-round rookie Jermaine Burton .

The noise around Burton has only gotten louder after strong performances from the former Alabama wide receiver throughout the preseason. He was PFF's highest-graded wide receiver throughout the preseason, catching 8 passes for 157 yards and two touchdowns across the three games. Despite the big numbers, reports emerged that Burton is likely buried on the depth chart and not quite ready to contribute. Burton did an interview with the Bengals' radio voice Dan Hoard and talked about some of the things he feels he can improve on.

"I could've been better in how I've been handling my business in my preseason. I could lock in more on my details and the things that I did wrong, but it's all about how you handle it. It's all about what it means to you and I feel like I need to do a better job of showing how much this means to me," Burton said to Hoard on the Bengals Booth Podcast . "I just want to make the best of my NFL career...Any opportunity I get I just want to make a memory out of it."

While it may take longer than fans want for Burton to contribute, he has the talent to eventually become a tremendous player.
