The Pittsburgh Steelers have been the subject of trade rumors just about all offseason, but particularly since they shipped Diontae Johnson to the Carolina Panthers for a sixth- and seventh-round pick in mid-March.
Most recently, San Francisco 49ers disgruntled wideout Brandon Aiyuk has been linked to Pittsburgh in several different possible trade scenarios, but so far, nothing has clicked.
On Monday, a new name emerged in Denver Broncos veteran wideout Tim Patrick.
Per Broncos insider Mike Klix , Patrick is a name that is making the rounds in the NFL as a potential trade candidate for the Broncos. And the Steelers are reportedly one of the teams who are interested.
"With significant depth and talent at WR, Broncos are moving on from popular veteran Tim Patrick, per source . Broncos are currently exploring trade possibilities for Patrick, who is generating strong interest on market in advance of Tuesday’s roster cutdown deadline. #9sports ," Klis posted on X.
Patrick has had injury problems the past two seasons, missing all of 2023 with a torn Achilles and all of 2022 with a torn ACL. But before the injuries, he was trending upward.
Over four seasons in Denver, Patrick has posted 143 catches for 2,009 yards and 12 touchdowns, with the majority of those coming in the last two years he was healthy.
The Steelers have also reportedly been in talks with the Houston Texans about bringing John Metchie III to town per Alan Saunders of SteelersNow.
"The Steelers have been in communication regarding Denver Broncos wide receiver Tim Patrick and Houston Texans wide receiver John Metchie III as the roster cut-down date approaches," Saunders wrote .
