Jets' Aaron Rodgers Drops In Quarterback Rankings For Wild Reason

New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers dropped in this year’s quarterback rankings, but not for the reason you would think. Regular logic would lead you to believe that because he missed the entire season last year that would be cause for the drop.

One analyst, however, gave a rather odd explanation. The Athletic’s Mike Sando , who puts this list together after talking to coaches and execs around the league, believes that Rodgers is a Tier 3 quarterback. Meaning bottom of the league quarterback.

"You go back and watch those first four plays before he got hurt; he did not look good,” Sando said. “He looks old. If they can’t protect him and they can’t run the football, it’ll be just what you saw late stages in Green Bay. He became ineffective. I’m looking at what he is, not who he is."

So, of the four plays, he dropped back to pass 3 times and was immediately under duress all three times because the offensive line was horrible, and somehow that’s his fault?

This might be one of the most ludicrous notions we’ve ever read. His final year in Green Bay was great through five games before he broke the thumb on his throwing hand. That was literally the storyline for the whole season.

One of the other voters who saw he was put in Tier 3 had a hilarious response.

“Were the guys that did not put Rodgers in Tier 1 from the 29 teams whose offenses would be better with him instead of their current QBs?”

    Solid question.

Rodgers and the Jets get their chance to shut up all the critics on Monday, Sept. 9 when they open the season on the road against the San Francisco 49ers.
