    Stanford Ranked 59th in ESPN's FPI

    The 2024 college football season has finally arrived, and Stanford is poised to make some noise in a new-look Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC). ESPN has updated its Football Power Index (FPI) for the upcoming campaign, and the Cardinal was the 59th-ranked team on the board.

    Stanford is ranked 14th out of the 17 teams in the ACC, ahead of Syracuse, Wake Forest, and Virginia. The Cardinal ranks just behind Duke, Pittsburgh, and Boston College.

    ESPN's FPI has Stanford projected to finish with approximately 5.1 wins and 6.9 losses, which is quite a bit ahead of its current odds projection. The betting market has Stanford priced with a win total of over/under 3.5, with the over significantly juiced at -170 at FanDuel Sportsbook .

    Stanford opens the season on Friday night with a home game against TCU, and the Cardinal is currently a 9.5-point underdog on FanDuel. ESPN Analytics gives Stanford a 42.5% chance to pull off the upset in the season opener.
