Robert Griffin III's rise as the franchise quarterback of the Washington Commanders lasted just one season in 2012. And now he's trying to rise again in his post-playing career.

Despite never capturing the magic that was his Offensive Rookie of the Year award, Griffin has found a career in television after his playing days were over in 2020. At least until ESPN laid off the NFL analyst last week.

"I love football, but I loved the experience I had at ESPN more than anything," Griffin said after the network made the decision.

While the quarterback was not at liberty to discuss the reasoning behind ESPN's move, it did allow for the former Heisman Trophy winner to speak on the Jim Rome show to discuss his time.

And Griffin isn't holding any grudge in that regard.

"I’ll miss the people there that I got a chance to work with, and I wish them the best moving forward," Griffin stated. "For me, and what the future holds, it’s just whatever God has in store for me. I’m just going to keep walking by faith and not by sight and continue to just cover the game the way I know how to cover it, with the excitement and the enthusiasm. That is just me being my true, authentic self. There is no act here. I’m just always gonna be that guy."

Griffin is still active with his Outta Pocket with RGIII podcast, but his time with ESPN has come to an end...at least for now.
