NFL Fans React to Violent Fight at Broncos-Cardinals Preseason

A fight broke out involving three fans during the preseason game between the Denver Broncos and the Arizona Cardinals at Empower Field at Mile High Stadium on Sunday.
A video of the incident showed a man in a dark blue Broncos t-shirt appearing to fake an attack against a man in a white tank top. The latter then suddenly punched the Broncos fan in the face, immediately sending him into a daze before hitting the ground.
Another guy, wearing a white t-shirt, also threw a couple of punches at the Broncos fan as he was falling down. The initial assailant once again hit the man in the head before other fans intervened to stop the assault.
It remains unclear what triggered the incident.
NFL fans took to X to express their thoughts, with many condemning the violence.
"They stop the guy that got attacked but not the attackers lol," an X user said.
"Easy to win street fights when you can have a tag team partner just come in and blindside the other guy," a fan added.
"Sports is never deep enough to throw a punch and doing so makes you look dumb," another fan posted.
"It’s going to happen with people drinking heavily and pitted against each other based on the uniform," one fan commented.
"Those two belong behind bars," another one wrote.
"Over a PRESEASON game," one fan pointed out.
Various reports said fan violence in the NFL has increased in recent years. According to New York Post's Andrew Marchand in 2023, nearly 40% of fans have witnessed violence in or around an NFL stadium, citing a survey by SportsBook Review.
The Broncos blew out the Cardinals, 38-12, to sweep their three preseason assignments. They will start their campaign on Sept. 8 against the Seattle Seahawks.
