When the NFL altered their kickoff rules for the 2024 season, teams around the league tried to nab quality return specialists on the open market.

The New York Giants were no different.

New York brought in the likes of Isaiah McKenzie and Gunner Olszewski to help their special teams unit. Unfortunately for the Giants, both of their designated returners are dealing with injuries. It's left them searching for other alternatives on special teams.

As first reported by Pat Leonard of the New York Daily News , names of interest to the Giants could be Samori Toure of the Green Bay Packers, Easop Winston Jr. of the Seattle Seahawks, and Brandon Codrington of the New York Jets.

Codrington makes more sense than any other potential candidate for the Giants due to the New York connection, and the fact that he is expected to be released by the Jets at some point on Tuesday.

Codrington recorded a 15-yard punt return in Gang Green's 10-6 preseason finale against the Giants. Big Blue is well aware of his capabilities.

That being said, New York's return injuries will only force them to figure out a different way to solve its current issue.

This is a Giants team that must win along the margins -- and that includes special teams, even if the early going has proven to be difficult.
