Deion Sanders recently joined Robert Griffin III's podcast, "Outta Pocket," where he opined for parents to ease off their kids regarding NIL deals. Currently, he believes many college football parents are sticking their beak too far into those issues.

"These young men are making it, but the families are at them," said Sanders. "Once upon a time, our parents just wanted us to make it, not for them, but just for us."

That's the kind of mentality Sanders wants from parents for the current generation of kids. Alas, that doesn't seem to be the situation.

"These parents are..." Sanders said, trailing off, laughing before going any further.

"You know, every once in a while, I forget I'm a head coach and I want to say some stuff but I can't," he added.

Sanders was willing to criticize the parents further, though.

"The parents got to back up a little bit off the kids and let the kids have their day, have their turn," he said. "Now, if they want to bless you, let them bless you. But that shouldn't be mandatory, because now that kid is right back where he was before."

That was a theme from Sanders in the discussion. Many of these kids don't have a professional runway they'll make their money on, and the fact is, those 4-5 years in school will be, for the majority, their most profitable window as an athlete.

"It's a darn shame for a kid to come and make hundreds of thousands of dollars in college, then when he's done, he's done," Sanders added.

He just doesn't want to see some kid make a huge payday and then have agents, parents and family members clawing at it.

"That hurts me," added Sanders. "I can't allow that to happen on my watch."
