In 2021, the Philadelphia Eagles were coming off a surprise playoff appearance despite the clear need for a top wide receiver.

General manager Howie Roseman went big-game hunting throughout the offseason with wide receiver Allen Robinson of particular interest to the organization.

Robinson ended up choosing the defending Super Bowl champion Los Angeles Rams instead. The Eagles were forced to pivot to draft day when a trade for Titans wide receiver A.J. Brown became official.

The rest, as they say, is history.

Philadelphia's lucky draw of grabbing Brown over securing Robinson has changed the course of the team's history. They reached the Super Bowl in 2022 with Brown garnering second-team All-Pro honors.

Robinson, meanwhile, has just been cut by the New York Giants after a short stint with the Rams and Bears.

The history of the Eagles, and specifically Jalen Hurts has drastically changed because of missing out on Robinson. It's a sign that the organization had the wherewithal to not overpay for an aging player and instead invest in a younger and better option.

Since acquiring Brown, the Eagles have had one of the best offenses in the league.

Would that have been the same with Allen Robinson? Recent examples including his release in New York show that it would probably not be the case.
