As NFL teams finalize their rosters for the 2024 season, two familiar faces from the Philadelphia Eagles' recent past have found themselves unexpectedly available on the free agent market.

Running back Boston Scott, who spent the last five seasons with the Eagles, was released by the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday despite a strong preseason showing. NFL Insider Jordan Schultz reported that the Rams opted to keep just three running backs on their roster, leaving Scott as the odd man out.

Scott's versatility and experience in the Rams' offensive system, similar to that run by many NFL teams, could make him an attractive option for clubs looking to bolster their backfield depth. During his time with the Eagles, Scott became known for his clutch performances and ability to contribute to both the running and passing game.

Meanwhile, wide receiver Greg Ward, who had been with the Indianapolis Colts, was also cut on Sunday, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Ward spent four seasons with the Eagles from 2019 to 2022, carving out a role as a reliable slot receiver and occasional punt returner.

Both Scott and Ward played crucial roles during their tenures in Philadelphia, most notably in 2019, when they helped the team secure the NFC East title alongside Carson Wentz. Scott, in particular, became a fan favorite for his performances against the New York Giants, earning him the nickname "Giant Killer" after scoring 10 touchdowns in 10 games against them.

With their experience and proven ability to contribute in multiple facets of the game, both Scott and Ward could provide valuable depth for teams looking to round out their rosters before Week 1. A return to Philadelphia could also be a possibility, as the Eagles might welcome their veteran presence on the roster or practice squad.
