As the NFL's roster cut-down deadline approaches, the Buffalo Bills find themselves facing tough decisions, particularly in the running back room. With the roster needing to be trimmed to 53 players by 4 p.m. EST today, the Bills must decide whether Darrynton Evans or Frank Gore Jr. , both of whom had standout moments during the preseason, have done enough to secure a spot.

Frank Gore Jr., the son of the legendary NFL running back Frank Gore, made a significant impression in the Bills' final preseason game against the Carolina Panthers. Gore Jr. rushed for 101 yards and a touchdown on 18 carries, averaging an impressive 5.6 yards per carry. His performance in the third quarter was particularly noteworthy, as he led the offense on a dominant drive with consecutive gains that culminated in a five-yard touchdown run.

Gore Jr. expressed his confidence after the game, stating , "As I got going, I felt the rhythm."

Despite this strong showing, Gore Jr. faces stiff competition. James Cook is firmly established as the Bills' RB1, and rookie Ray Davis has also made a compelling case for the RB2 position. While Gore Jr.'s performance has undoubtedly given the coaching staff something to think about, his place on the final roster remains uncertain.

Darrynton Evans is another running back who has caught the attention of the Bills' coaching staff. Evans made his mark early in the preseason, scoring the Bills' first touchdown of the exhibition season on a 16-yard catch-and-run from quarterback Ben DiNucci. Evans has shown versatility, with his ability to contribute in the passing game and on special teams, making him a valuable asset. However, like Gore Jr., Evans is competing for a limited number of spots in a crowded backfield.

With Cook and Davis likely locked into the top two running back positions, the Bills must decide if they have room for one or both of these promising young players. The possibility of retaining them on the practice squad also remains, but their performances this preseason suggest that other teams could take notice if they hit the waiver wire.

As the clock ticks down to the roster deadline, the Bills' coaching staff faces a difficult decision. Both Gore Jr. and Evans have shown they belong in the NFL, but only time will tell if they have done enough to make the cut in Buffalo.
