The Los Angeles Chargers have trimmed their quarterback roster down to just two players as they prepare for the 2024 regular season. The team has released Luis Perez per ESPN's Jeremy Fowler , who joined the Chargers earlier this month.

Perez, a former XFL champion, had a brief stint with the Chargers, participating in two preseason games.

He completed 5 of 12 passes for 61 yards against the Seattle Seahawks and followed that with a 13 of 20 performance for 78 yards in a loss to the Los Angeles Rams. Despite his solid spring performance in the UFL, he couldn't secure a spot on the final roster.

With Perez's departure, the Chargers will rely on Justin Herbert and Easton Stick as their quarterbacks.

The Chargers appeared to show their confidence in Stick as the backup over the weekend, when Stick played the entirety of the team's final preseason game.

Against the Dallas Cowboys, Stick showed an improved offensive effort, even completing a 78-yard touchdown pass to Simi Fehoko.

He went 12-29 for 187 yards, one touchdown, and one interception as the offense put up 19 of the Chargers' 26 points.

Herbert recently returned to practice after recovering from a plantar fascia injury that sidelined him for several weeks.

Stick, who struggled in the first two preseason games, showed improvement in the final game against the Dallas Cowboys, throwing for 187 yards and a touchdown.

The Chargers' decision to keep only two quarterbacks raises concerns, especially considering Herbert's injury history. The team may look to add depth to the position through free agency or trades as the season approaches.
