The Bears don’t have many areas of need and may sit this round out, but there are still a few interesting options for them. Here are five:
DT Jowon Briggs
Briggs, a seventh-round pick this spring out of Cincinnati, was good for the Bearcats but also turned in a very strong preseason for the Browns.
He’s obviously not a polished product but he’s shown some upside both as a run-stopper and pass-rusher, which could be worth a flier for the Bears, given their lack of interior depth at the moment.
LS Scott Daly
Long snapper is one spot the Bears will need to add.
Daly has spent the past three seasons in Detroit and seems like a solid option.
DT Jonathan Marshall
A former Jets sixth-rounder, Marshall hasn’t yet been a contributor at the NFL level but showed some improvement this preseason, albeit in a very small sample.
He may not be a big addition but could provide decent depth along the interior of the defensive line for the time being.
DT Armon Watts
How about a reunion with Watts?
After spending 2022 in Chicago, Watts spent last season with the Steelers.
He hasn’t shown big pass-rush upside, outside of one season, but he’s a solid rotational player along the interior who could make some sense at a thin spot for the Bears.
LB Dallas Gant
The Bears have some decent linebacker depth currently but Gant had a standout preseason for the Vikings and could be a promising developmental option who could also contribute right away on special teams.
Noah Sewell didn’t exactly set the world on fire in the preseason so it wouldn’t hurt to add another option.
Waivers will be completed Wednesday morning so teams can start setting their practice squads at 11 a.m. (CT).
