Jets' Saleh Believes Holdout Reddick 'Still Has Time' to Rejoin Team

With the regular-season under two weeks away, the New York Jets await any sort of updates in the holdout of linebacker Haason Reddick. Acquired in a trade with the Philadelphia Eagles in the offseason, Reddick has yet to report to the team, and in early August, requested a trade from New York as he looks to negotiate a new contract.

While the Jets have made it clear that they will not negotiate a new contract with Reddick until he reports to the team, Reddick has said he won't report until he has the new contract. Despite seemingly being in a stalemate, head coach Robert Saleh still has faith that Reddick will rejoin the team before the regular-season begins.

"I'm assuming he's in phenomenal shape," Saleh said. "Like I said, he's a veteran. He knows what he needs to get ready. He's had success in multiple buildings and multiple schemes with coaching staffs, and so he's going to know what he needs to do to be ready for Week 1. So, he still has plenty of time."

Reddick, who the Jets acquired in April for a conditional third-round pick, is a multiple-time Pro Bowler and a one-time second-team All-Pro. As Saleh said, Reddick has experience with multiple staffs, as he spent time with the Arizona Cardinals and Carolina Panthers before joining Philadelphia.

New York fans won't have to wait much longer to see if Reddick takes the field, as the Jets take on the San Francisco 49ers in Week 1 on Sept. 8.
