Players Didn't Hesitate to Name 'Most Overrated Quarterback' in NFL

Being the star quarterback can be brutal sometimes. One can be seen as the best in the NFL like Patrick Mahomes, and the other can be viewed as highly talented but not to the levels some would rate them.

Buffalo Bills star quarterback Josh Allen happens to be the latter. Despite his undeniable star quality, his inability to get his team over the hump in the playoffs has heaped loads of criticism onto him from sports pundits and fans.

While his regular season displays showcase what he can do at his best, what he has done in the postseason leaves a lot to be desired, especially with the talent Buffalo has while they seek an appearance in the Super Bowl for the first time since 1993.

And apparently, NFL players are not viewing Allen in the best light either, even though they understand he is talented as one of the league's stars.

NFL reporter Dov Kleiman made a post on X (formerly Twitter), saying that ESPN asked 103 NFL players about their pick for the most overrated quarterback in the league.

The likes of San Francisco's Brock Purdy, Miami's Tua Tagovailoa, Jacksonville's Trevor Lawrence, Los Angeles Chargers' Justin Herbert, Cleveland's Deshaun Watson, and even Philadelphia' Jalen Hurts were mentioned. But only one stood at the top of many of the players' lists as the most overrated, and that was Josh Allen himself.

A tough pill to swallow for the two-time Pro Bowler, knowing that he has a lot to prove entering his seventh year in the league. Last season, he led the Bills to an 11-6 record, falling 27-24 in the AFC Divisional Round to eventual champs Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs.

Allen will look to use this recent news as motivation to prove his doubters wrong by making a run to the Super Bowl, starting with the season opener against the Arizona Cardinals on Sept. 8 at 1 p.m. ET.
