Ex Eagle 'Still Has Time' to Join Jets

When the Philadelphia Eagles sent linebacker Haason Reddick to the New York Jets in April, few would've predicted that the former All-Pro would immediately hold out from his new team as he looks to sign a new contract.

However, that is the situation that the former Eagle and the Jets are currently in, as Reddick has yet to report to a single practice with New York since the trade occurred. Despite this situation, Jets coach Robert Saleh seems to believe Reddick still has a chance of reporting to the team before the season begins.

"I'm assuming he's in phenomenal shape," Saleh said. "Like I said, he's a veteran. He knows what he needs to get ready. He's had success in multiple buildings and multiple schemes with coaching staffs, and so he's going to know what he needs to do to be ready for Week 1. So, he still has plenty of time."

The Eagles traded Reddick to the Jets back in April for a conditional third-round pick after the linebacker began his pursuit for a larger contract. This trade comes two seasons after Reddick signed with the Eagles on a three-year, $45 million contract.

Reddick made an instant impact for the team's pass rush, playing in two Pro bowls and earning second-team All-Pro honors in 2022, the same year that he co-led the NFL in forced fumbles.
