Skylar Diggins-Smith Goes Off on Expletive-Filled Rant After Storm’s Loss to Mystics

The Seattle Storm (18-11) are one of the top teams in the WNBA, so when they suffered a 74-72 defeat to the Washington Mystics (8-22) on Monday night, it just didn’t sit right with star guard Skylar Diggins-Smith.

The 34-year-old logged 10 points, eight assists and three rebounds herself, but the Storm collectively hit on less than 30% of their 3-pointers and hit just 37.8% of their field goals while getting outrebounded 42-33 in a losing effort, which prompted Diggins-Smith to call out her teammates.

“In this league, if you aren't ready to play, you'll get beat every f---ing night,” Diggins-Smith told reporters . “[The Mystics] were ready to play and we weren't, on both sides of the basketball. They deserved to win it if we were going to play like that. We need to be hitting our stride right now [and] we're not there.

"It's unacceptable how we're playing on both sides of the basketball. And I f---ed it up at the end, that's a terrible foul. As a vet, you can't make that play. But it shouldn't f---ing come down to that.”

Prior to Tuesday’s 93-90 loss to the Dallas Wings, the Las Vegas Aces were tied with the Storm for the No. 4 seed in the WNBA standings.

And despite having sole possession of the No. 3 seed now, Diggins-Smith sent a wake-up call to the rest of her team after losing three of their first four games since coming back from the Olympic break.

“We all got to step our game up,” she stated. “And in this league, it only gets harder after the break. And that's fine... but if we don't come ready to play from the start, we're going to f---ing lose.”
