NFL Fans Roast Browns Over QB Situation

The Cleveland Browns made a bold decision by keeping four quarterbacks on their initial 53-man roster, a move that has sparked both criticism and ridicule.

Deshaun Watson, Jameis Winston, Tyler Huntley and Dorian Thompson-Robinson all made the cut. Browns skipper Kevin Stefanski had simple reasoning for the move.

"We have four good quarterbacks," Stefanski told reporters on Tuesday.

The quote from Stefanski ignited quite the response in the NFL subreddit .

"This is like fantasy football where one guy drafts way too many QBs and its obvious trade bait, but no-one ever bites," one commenter wrote.

Others pointed to the recent history for the Browns. Watson played in just six games last season due to a shoulder injury and the team started five different quarterbacks.

"Its the Browns. All four will start at some point and they will still need to pick up a new QB by Week 11," another fan said.

Some viewed the Browns’ stockpiling of quarterbacks as a sign of their wavering confidence in Watson. Since the blockbuster trade that brought him to Cleveland, Watson has only played 12 games, with mixed results. During that time, he’s thrown for 2,217 yards, 14 touchdowns, and 9 interceptions.

"If keep four QBs, it sounds like you don’t have a good starting QB, and you don’t know the definite backup," the commenter said.

The reality is that the Browns are trying to trade one of their backup quarterbacks but haven't been able to figure out a deal just yet. Cleveland's 53-man roster includes just two running backs and two tight ends, so they can use the numbers elsewhere.
