San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel shared a seven-word message regarding the possibility of his teammate Brandon Aiyuk’s return amid his contract dispute with the team.

Samuel, like everyone else, is in the dark about Aiyuk’s status.

"You just gotta keep waiting like me," Samuel told NFL Network's Tom Pelisserro.

Aiyuk's contract situation with the San Francisco 49ers has become increasingly tense with Week 1 just a little over a week away.

Coming off a career-best 2023 season with 75 receptions, 1,342 yards, and seven touchdowns, Aiyuk is seeking a contract extension that would place him among the highest-paid wide receivers in the league.

This offseason, players like Justin Jefferson ($35 million AAV), CeeDee Lamb ($34 million), AJ Brown ($32 million), and Amon-Ra St. Brown ($30 million) all secured massive new contracts.

Seeing these deals finalized has likely added to Aiyuk's frustration, especially since they were secured during the same offseason he's been pushing for his own extension.

The 49ers, however, have been hesitant to meet Aiyuk's demands, leading to ongoing speculation about his future with the team.

Aiyuk even requested a trade in July after reports indicated that the 49ers hadn't engaged in meaningful contract talks since May.

Despite the tension, Aiyuk has been seen at recent team practices, interacting with head coach Kyle Shanahan and general manager John Lynch, although no significant progress in negotiations has been reported.

Aiyuk isn't the only key 49er involved in a contract dispute—star offensive tackle Trent Williams is also holding out for a new deal.
