Eagles GM Was 'Concerned' With Commanders Trade

Last week, the Washington Commanders unloaded former No. 16 overall pick Jahan Dotson to the Philadelphia Eagles. The former first-round receiver was just not jiving with the new regime under coach Dan Quinn and general manager Adam Peters.

Thus far, the former Nittany Lion has yet to get his career on track. Washington sent Dotson and a fifth-round pick to the Eagles for a third-round pick and a pair of seventh rounders.

Eagles’ general manager Howie Roseman recently admitted he was a bit skeptical about trading with the Commanders.

“I certainly don’t think they’re trying to help us by any stretch of the imagination,” Roseman said. “So, I think that you’re always kind of concerned about trading within the division.”

By all accounts, the Eagles will need to push Dotson to be better as a player. Multiple sources cited his lack of urgency and off the ball play as a couple of the reasons that the Commanders decided to part ways with Dotson.

“There was an opportunity there to get the player,” Roseman continued, “obviously give up a second-day draft compensation, which is important for all of us, but we felt like it was worthwhile based on what we knew, what we thought that we needed, and made the trade.”

The Commanders are prepared to move forward with the crew that they have unless the right circumstance comes along to acquire another receiver they feel will make their team better.
