In his latest endeavor, NFL legend Brett Favre delves into the serious issue of head injuries in football with his documentary, "Concussed: The American Dream."

The film, which was released on Tuesday, offers an intimate look at the devastating effects of concussions. The story revolves around former New York Giants safety Tyler Sash, who suffered a major hit and passed away in 2015 from a drug overdose.

Drawing from his personal experiences in his illustrious 20-year career and the stories of other players, Favre sheds light on the long-term repercussions of head trauma, including chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE).

The three-time MVP, who served as the executive producer of the documentary, acknowledged his struggles with the symptoms of CTE.

Still, the 54-year-old Favre said he feels no rancor toward the NFL, according to his interview with TMZ Sports . The Green Bay Packers icon even acknowledged the league's efforts to minimize concussions. But he also knows that the NFL can still go an extra mile.

"They need to gear their money and energy to finding a solution, a treatment," Favre said.

"I loved playing football, I knew it was violent, but no one (knew back then) how serious concussions are."

The Hall of Famer is widely known as the NFL's iron man, having started 297 consecutive regular season games—the most in league history. However, his longevity also came with getting hit viciously countless of times.

Aside from the Packers, he also played for the Atlanta Falcons, New York Jets and the Minnesota Vikings. He retired in 2011.

Through this documentary, Favre hopes to initiate conversations that could lead to meaningful changes in how football is played and managed at all levels, ultimately making the sport safer for future generations.
