Vikings sign multiple players to practice squad

The Minnesota Vikings filled out its practice squad on Wednesday, a day after final roster cuts were made to fill out the 53-man active roster.

Some notable names aren't returning to the team, including running back/kickoff returner Kene Nwangwu and free safety Lewis Cine, who were picked up by other teams.

Minnesota signed 17 players to its practice squad, a total that's increased from the max of 16 because tight end Sammis Reyes is part of the International Player Pathway program. He was with the Vikings during all of training camp.

Here's a list of Vikings who signed with the team on Wednesday:

    • Myles Gaskin, RB
    • DeWayne McBride, RB
    • N'Keal Harry, TE
    • Robert Tonyan, TE
    • Sammis Reyes, TE (International Player Pathway)
    • Lucky Jackson, WR
    • Jeshaun Jones, WR
    • Thayer Thomas, WR
    • Henry Byrd, OL
    • Tyrese Robinson, G
    • Jaylin Williams, CB
    • Nahshon Wright, CB
    • Bobby McCain, DB
    • Andre Carter II, OLB
    • Bo Richter, OLB
    • Dallas Gant, LB
    • Jonah Williams, DL

The Vikings get Gaskin and McBride back, as their only true running backs on the 53-man roster are Aaron Jones and Ty Chandler.

The team also solidified its depth at the tight end position in bringing Harry, Tonyan and Reyes back. T.J. Hockenson will miss at least the first four games of the season as he works his way back from an ACL injury suffered last year, so it wouldn't be surprising to see Minnesota experiment at the position as they currently have Josh Oliver, Johnny Mundt and Nick Muse available to play.

Minnesota brought back all of its receivers except for Justin Hall. Malik Knowles will revert to the team's injured reserve as he went unclaimed.

Vikings fan favorite Richter returns on the practice squad and Carter joins him after a fine preseason.
