Trent Williams is making it clear that he wants a new contract with the 49ers . The star left tackle has not participated in training camp and is holding out until his contract is adjusted to reflect his value to the team.

Williams is looking for a significant pay increase, as he believes he deserves to be compensated like one of the top players in the league.

He wants to be "paid-paid" like the valuable piece he is, NFL insider Josina Anderson reported Tuesday, citing league sources.

"San Francisco is between a real rock and a hard place, because Trent is not playing around," another source told Anderson. "Something may have to give, unless you're allowing for big adjustments next season."

The situation has put the 49ers in a tough spot, as they need to address his contract while also managing other roster issues, including negotiations with wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk.

As the regular season approaches, Williams' absence could extend into the games if a resolution isn’t reached soon.

He has three years left on his current deal, but he is not feeling pressured to return until his demands are met, ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reported Monday.

Meanwhile, he has been focusing on personal training and staying ready for the season.

The 49ers are aware of the urgency to resolve this situation, as they aim to have their All-Pro left tackle back on the field.

"The 49ers know they have to do something here. They could sweeten the guarantees on his contract, but they're dealing with Brandon Aiyuk at the same time they're trying to get this guy done," Fowler also said. "So they're hoping he'll be in the lineup here soon."

After coming off a disappointing Super Bowl loss, having Williams in the lineup is crucial for their plans moving forward.
