Eagles vs. Packers: Green Bay Gets Good & Bad Running Back News

    By Wil Riggs,

Earlier this offseason, the Green Bay Packers signed Josh Jacobs to be their bell cow back. That same day, the team opted to release fan favorite Aaron Jones and re-sign A.J. Dillon.

The Philadelphia Eagles Week 1 opponents received some bad news on an injury Dillon sustained in the preseason.

Dillon will miss the entire season with a neck injury. “Quadzilla” is a bruising back and can get the tough yards when needed. His absence in their backfield will put a lot more pressure on Jacobs as the season progresses.

    However…..

The Packers also received word that rookie running back Marshawn Lloyd will be ready for the regular season opener in Sao Paulo, Brazil according to a report from ESPN’s Rob Demovsky.

“The expectation is that rookie third-round pick MarShawn Lloyd (hamstring) begins the season on injured reserve,” Demovsky writes, “but a new rule lets teams designate two players to IR before cuts and still allow them to return, as opposed to having to carry them on the initial 53 for a day before making that move.”

Lloyd was asked about his injury recovery and if he thought he’d be ready for Week 1.

“That’s the goal. I’m hoping for that. It’s day by day, really. I wouldn’t be able to tell exactly, but I’m feeling pretty good,” Lloyd said.

The two teams will play the first NFL game ever in South America on Friday, Sept. 6.

Kickoff is scheduled for 8:20 p.m. EDT.
