'Mahomes Better Without Tyreek!' RGIII Reveals Why

In the process of building a dynasty in Kansas City , Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes has only gotten better at his craft. After being selected No. 10 overall in the 2017 NFL Draft, the Chiefs took heat by plenty of naysayers who said that picking the former Red Raider that high was a “reach”.

Mahomes became the starter the next year and has played in the AFC Championship every year since. Following a loss to the Cincinnati Bengals in the conference championship in 2021, the Chiefs made some changes.

One of those changes was to trade speedy receiver Tyreek Hill to the Miami Dolphins. ... a move that former NFL quarterback and NFL analyst Robert Griffin III says made the former first-round pick better.

"When Mahomes had Tyreek Hill, it was a little bit different,” said RGIII. “It was a little bit of 'Tyreek's open down there somewhere, right? I'm just gonna throw this bad boy as far as I can' and now that he doesn't have Tyreek, his process has changed so much that he's actually become a better quarterback, right?”

Not only has Mahomes become better - for whatever reason - he has transformed himself into the best quarterback in the NFL and has led his team to back-to-back championships the past two years, both without Hill.

“He's reading the defenses better,” RGIII continued, “he's getting through his progressions better, he's being okay with taking whatever the defense allows him to have while also still having that special ability that he has to make things happen out of nowhere."

Kansas City continues to build a strong roster around Mahomes year after year. They have a top 5 defense and the best quarterback in football. It will be interesting to see which team, if any, can stop the Chiefs from winning an unprecedented third consecutive championship.
