Many fans of the "look-good, play-good" club weren't pleased when Philadelphia Eagles first-round rookie Quinyon Mitchell was listed with the No. 30 to start his NFL career.

Things have changed after roster cutdown day.

With Zech McPhearson being released by the team on Tuesday, Quinyon Mitchell's college number of 27 is back in play... and it looks like the Toledo star has already taken it.

Mitchell was the 22nd overall pick in April's draft after a dominant pro day, senior bowl, and combine. The more Mitchell performed in workouts, the higher his stock climbed with the Eagles making him the first cornerback taken in the draft.

Since then, Mitchell has risen to the challenge and has even looked the part of an elite shutdown corner early in his career.

Philadelphia has opted to play him both outside and in the slot overall.

“He’s been great since the day we got him,” Eagles defensive coordinator Vic Fangio told reporters. “He works really hard. He's focused in meetings, not just on the practice field. We have put a lot on his plate, like I've said. He hasn't backed down from it at all. He's going to be a good player in this league.”

Mitchell taking No. 27 will only help his case of being one of the elite players at his position at an early stage of his career.
