With the 13th place in the waiver claim order, the Las Vegas Raiders have been active and have already claimed two players.

The Raiders have claimed defensive tackle Jonah Laula from the Colts, and safety Thomas Harper from the Chargers. With defense continuing to be the focal point for Antonio Pierce and the Raiders, landing these two players means having to find roster spots for them in order to make room.

Harper, who came into the NFL as an undrafted rookie from Notre Dame. He recorded three tackles during the preseason, and also added a sack.

Laulu was a seventh-round pick in this past NFL Draft. He is a tackle out from Oklahoma, where he had 8.5 sacks for the Sooners before being drafted. He combined for four tackles in this preseason and a sack before his release by the Colts.

Raiders newest GM Tom Telesco spoke to the media, about the waiver wire and discussed the importance of adding players to the team from waivers as he narrows down his 53 man roster for the team.

"We've done a lot of work leading up to this as far as having reports on everybody and seeing who's out there who maybe can strengthen us," Telesco said. "And that's what we'll look at tonight, tomorrow and into Wednesday and Thursday and see how that plays out."

With more moves and cuts to be made leading up to Week 1 of the NFL season, the Raiders and Telesco will continue to look to improve and build the best roster they can before opening kick off.
