The Indiana Fever finally broke their dry spell against the Connecticut Sun after completing a wire-to-wire 84-80 victory on Wednesday at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.

It's the Fever's first win against the Sun since July 2021, breaking an 11-game losing streak.

The backcourt duo of Kelsey Mitchell and Caitlin Clark once again led the way for the Fever, who improved to 15-16. Mitchell top-scored with 23 points and added four rebounds and two blocks, while Clark chipped in 19 points, five rebounds and five assists.

After the game, Clark expressed how relieved she was to finally beat the Sun, saying they were very motivated and excited heading into the game.

"I think it's a big win for us," Clark said in the video posted by ClutchPoints' Matthew Byrne . "This is a team (Sun) that we felt we hadn't given a game to at all. I think, especially here (at home), we felt we gave one away (the last time).

"But at the same time, we didn't feel like we played how we are playing now, and the two games there (in Connecticut), obviously, were about as bad as it gets for us as a team this season."

During the game, Clark also set a WNBA record for most three-pointers by a rookie in a single season, passing Atlanta Dream's Rhyne Howard’s 85 in 2022.

The battle with the Sun went down to the wire, with Lexie Hull, who made her second straight start of the season, draining two clutch free throws with 19.4 seconds left to seal the win.

"I'm just so proud of our group," Clark added. "I thought our crowd was also incredible, they were really into the game.

"That certainly helps us a lot, especially when we needed a big stop there at the end. That's huge. it feels like there's another defender on the floor."

Clark and the Fever are now 7-3 in their last 10 outings and will go for a third straight win on Friday against rival rookie Angel Reese and the Chicago Sky.
