    Miami Marlins Look for Series Split With Colorado Rockies

    The Miami Marlins (48-85) enter Thursday looking for a series split with the Colorado Rockies (50-84). Having alternated winning, all signs point to it being the Marlins turn to win one to put them only half a game behind the Rockies for 14th in the National League.

    The Marlins will turn to rookie Valente Bellozo (2-2. 3.35 ERA) on Thursday. In his last start, Bellozo allowed five earned runs on seven hits and five walks while striking out one in 4 2/3 innings. Even with the clunker in his last start, Bellozo has pitched to a 2.93 ERA in five August starts and 27 2/3 innings.

    The Rockies will counter with a rookie of their own in Bradley Blalock (1-0, 3.06 ERA). In his last start, Blalock allowed two earned runs on five hits and four walks while striking out five in 5 1/3 innings. All three of Blalock's Major League starts have come in August, and he has pitched to a 3.24 ERA across 16 2/3 innings.
