Steve Sarkisian Reveals Arch Manning Update Before Week 1

The Texas Longhorns are heading into their first season in the SEC after its best season since 2009. Last year, the Longhorns won the Big 12 championship and made it to the College Football Playoff for the first time ever.

Many people expected quarterback prodigy Arch Manning to lead the team heading into this season. However, last year's starter, Quinn Ewers, announced that he would return for one final season, meaning that Manning would once again serve as Ewers' backup. Manning and his family don't seem to have a problem with this arrangement.

Head coach Steve Sarkisian gave reporters an update on Manning before the game. According to Anwar Richardson of Orange Bloods , Sarkisian mentioned that Manning has shown significant improvement compared to last year. He also noted that Manning's confidence and comfort level have significantly increased. Sarkisian expressed that he feels very confident in Manning's abilities and believes he will perform at a high level if called upon to play.

Arch Manning is the grandson of legendary college quarterback Archie Manning and the nephew of two legendary NFL quarterbacks, Peyton and Eli Manning. Manning was considered the top quarterback and overall player in the 2023 class. Last season, he only played in two games, completing 2-of-5 passes for 30 yards. However, he excelled in the spring game , completing 19-of-26 passes for 355 yards and three touchdowns, including a 75-yard touchdown on his first throw of the day.

So, the hype has only grown since that game, but it seems as though he'll have to continue to wait his turn. However, Sarkisian is confident that Manning can lead them to their desired destination if called upon.
