No. 4 Texas kicks off its 2024 college football season on Saturday against unranked Colorado State.

The Longhorns have extremely high expectations this year after reaching its first-ever College Football Playoff and securing a Big 12 Championship last season. While Steve Sarkisian's squad lost several key starters from last year to the NFL, his staff was able to reload at those positions via the transfer portal and recruiting trail.

Fans will get their first glimpse of just how good this Texas roster can be on Saturday. Fortunately for the Longhorns, all players will be available against Colorado State aside from running backs CJ Baxter and Christian Clark whom suffered season-ending injuries during fall camp.

The Longhorns enter the Week 1 matchup as 32-point favorites over the Rams therefore not many analysts would pick against Texas, but how lopsided could it get?

Here's a look at a few early score predictions for the Texas-Colorado State matchup.

College Football News' Pete Fiutak: Texas 48, Colorado State 17

    Horns247's Chip Brown : Texas 42, Colorado State 13

Athlon Sports' Dan Lyons : Texas 37, Colorado State 17

Horns247's Jeff Howe: Texas 41, Colorado State

The consensus is that Texas will likely dominate the game from start to finish. However, teams often get off to a slow start with first-game jitters. The Longhorns will look to prove that last season wasn't a fluke and the hype this offseason was warranted.
