Jets' Rival Announces Starting QB for Week 1

With the 2024 regular-season just over a week away, teams are beginning to determine who will take the field for them when the season begins. While the New York Jets have had their starting quarterback all offseason in Aaron Rodgers, that has not been the case for every team in the AFC East.

With their opening game just 10 days away, the New England Patriots have announced that veteran Jacoby Brissett will be the team's starting quarterback in Week 1.

Despite drafting Drake Maye with the second overall pick in the 2024 draft, the team is more confident in Brissett as the starter to begin the season as Maye continues to develop.

The Jets and the Patriots play for the first time in Week 3 for Thursday Night Football, meaning, barring any injuries, Brissett will likely be who the Jets see when they face off on Sept. 19.

This will not be the first time that Brissett has started a game for New England, as he began his career with the team back in 2016. In eight seasons with five different teams, Brissett has started 48 games and totaled 10,574 passing yards.

In his most recent matchup against the Jets with the Commanders in December, Brissett finished the game with 100 passing yards and a touchdown in a loss.

Before the two sides face off again in Week 3, the Jets will open their season against the San Francisco 49ers on Sept. 8.
