Head coach Deion Sanders was full of praise for Shedeur Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes after they edged out the North Dakota State Bison in their College Football season opener on Thursday.

Coach Prime particularly commended their offensive line in the win, as well as Shedeur, whom he described as "excellent."

Shedeur completed 26 of his 34 passes for 445 yards and four touchdowns against just one interception. With the 22-year-old quarterback leading the way, Colorado football overcame a 20-17 first-half deficit to win, 31-26.

"The offensive line did a great job protecting our quarterback, and our quarterback was excellent," Coach Sanders said postgame.

While it was far from a perfect game from Shedeur Sanders—the decision to throw the ball following the pass interference penalty with less than two minutes remaining was questionable, although it also falls on the coaches—the Buffaloes still relied heavily on him. Sure enough, he delivered.

Of course credit should also be given to wide receiver Travis Hunter, who made seven receptions for 132 yards and three touchdowns. His incredible connection with Shedeur is undeniable, as the two made sure they went out with the victory.

Sanders threw a 13-yard touchdown pass to Hunter midway through the third quarter, allowing Colorado to take the 24-20 lead. In the fourth quarter, the QB-WR duo linked up again for a crucial touchdown to put them up by 11.

As the Buffaloes look to improve from their 4-8 finish in 2023, they will need both Shedeur and Travis to be at their best moving forward. Deion Sanders still has a lot of work to do with his team, but at least there are plenty of positives to take from their first win.
