Dalvin Reveals RB Plans In Cowboys' Texas Coast Offense'

The Dallas Cowboys had one of the best offenses in football last season, but one piece of the puzzle was missing. They had the quarterback, the receiver, and the tight end but lacked a consistent run game.

Now, though, there is a hope that it will change in 2024.

With Ezekiel Elliott back, Rico Dowdle and Deuce Vaugh emerging, and veteran Dalvin Cook , Dallas has quite a few bodies to rotate through the backfield.

For Cook, who will start on Dallas' practice squad as he gets in football shape, he knows what a consistent run game could do for Dak Prescott in Mike McCarthy's offense.

“I feel like we know pretty much know who Dak Prescott is, so we know he going to throw the throw the ball around the yard,” Cook said. “Feel like we got one of, if not the best receiver in the league, so us establishing the run game and taking the load off them guys a little bit, we kind of know what we up for ...

"I don't think there's no better guys for the job than us.”

The Cowboys were in the middle of the pack last season for rushing yards per game (113.5, lowest since 2020), with Tony Pollard leading the room.

Of course, that made Prescott have to overcome many runs that went nowhere and put the offense behind the chains. With teams knowing that the Cowboys couldn't establish the run, opposing defenses were able to get after Dak (sacked 39 times, second-most in career).

But now, with veterans Elliott and Cook, coupled with the youth of Rico and Deuce, maybe, just maybe, one of the most problematic positions on Dallas roster might be able to amount to something.

In a lame-duck season, could this unit surprise? Dalvin certainly thinks so.
