Ahead of Friday's highly anticipated matchup between the Sky and Indiana Fever, Chicago will be without one of its star players.

Caitlin Clark and the Fever come into the game having won six of their last eight contests. With the WNBA playoffs starting in less than three weeks, they are aiming to improve their current seventh seed.

On the other hand, Angel Reese and the Chicago Sky are on a four-game losing streak. They currently hold the eighth seed and have a one-game lead over the Atlanta Dream.

Chennedy Carter, the Sky's leading scorer, will miss Friday night's game due to health and safety protocols, according to Chloe Peterson of IndyStarSports.

Carter tested positive for COVID-19 this week and missed Wednesday's game against the Mystics. The Sky canceled Tuesday's practice out of precaution.

Carter is currently averaging 17.2 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 2.8 assists. This will be a significant loss for the Sky, and Reese, Elizabeth Williams, and Kamilla Cardoso will have to handle the majority of the workload.

Reese and Clark will meet for the fourth time in their rookie seasons. While both players have been outstanding for their teams, only one can be named WNBA Rookie of the Year.

"Chicago’s Chennedy Carter is officially out for tonight’s Fever-Sky game at Wintrust Arena because of health and safety protocols. She is the Sky’s leading scorer at 17.2 points per game," Peterson said.

The Fever enter the game with a record of 15-16, while the Sky are 11-19.
