What to Watch for Oregon Fans on Friday

Week one of the college football season is finally underway, and while Oregon doesn't take the field until Saturday afternoon, there's plenty for Duck fans to take in on Friday.

For an Oregon-based viewing guide of the day's action, see below:

How explosive will Oklahoma look without Dillon Gabriel?

On Friday, the Ducks will get a taste of both how Oklahoma is looking entering their first season in the SEC and how critical Dillon Gabriel was to the Sooners' success.

Their first game without the experienced signal-caller comes against an outmatched Temple team at 4:00 p.m. PST on Friday, and while Oklahoma is favored by 42 points, there are still plenty of uncertainties entering the season-opener.

If the Sooners are looking unsharp at any point, they'll likely be missing Gabriel, who won't suit-up until a day later.

Sophomore Jackson Arnold is expected to step in at quarterback after throwing three interceptions in Oklahoma's loss to Arizona in the 2023 Valero Alamo Bowl.

How will the Big Ten teams fare?

Two teams on the Ducks conference schedule, Michigan State and Wisconsin, will be in action on Friday, taking on Florida Atlantic and Western Michigan, respectively.

Against Florida Atlantic, the Spartans are favored by just 13 at home, which could make for an entertaining matchup as new head coach Jonathan Smith takes the reins. Oregon will ultimately host the Spartans on Friday, Oct. 4.

Meanwhile, Wisconsin is expected to dominate against a less-talented Western Michigan squad, as the Badgers are favored by 24 on their home field on Friday.

Duck fans will likely be happy to see Wisconsin struggle, as Oregon travels to Camp Randall Stadium for a tough conference matchup on Saturday, Nov. 16.

How will Stanford fare in its first game as an ACC team?

Fans of the previously lush and lively Pac 12 Conference will likely be keeping an eye on their former conference mates in 2024, and Friday will be no exception, as Stanford hosts TCU in an intriguing inter-conference matchup.

The game will occur in true Pac-12 fashion, kicking off at 7:30 p.m. PST on Friday night. Playing on the road, TCU is still favored by 8.5 points.

Will the Cardinal begin 2024 with an upset win after dark? Or will TCU spoil the fun? Find out tonight.
