Can Jets' Rodgers 'Live Upto Super Bowl Aspirations'?

The New York Jets have all the pieces to be a Super Bowl contender in 2024, but with so many key players having a checkered injury history, that has caused some to re-think if the Jets' Super Bowl hopes are genuine.

The main reason the Jets are even in the conversation is that Aaron Rodgers is under center. New York was a seven-win team last season with below-par quarterback play, and with Rodgers, the hope is that a double-digit winning season will follow.

However, the Jets' focus isn't just on the playoffs; it's on winning the Super Bowl , especially after their offseason acquisitions. But can Rodgers, who is coming off an Achilles injury, deal with such high expectations?

For CBS Sports' Cody Benjamin, that's the big question hanging over the organization.

"Rodgers has little to prove from a career perspective; he's already a safe bet for the Pro Football Hall of Fame as one of the game's most accomplished precision passers," Benjamin writes . "In terms of late-stage legacy, however, it all boils down to whether he can live up to the Super Bowl aspirations that instantly flooded into New Jersey upon his trade from the Green Bay Packers in 2023. Going on 41, coming off an Achilles tear that robbed him of all but four snaps in his Gang Green debut, Rodgers is looking to show the world once and for all that he's still got gas in the tank as the headlining leader of a playoff-caliber lineup."

Everything rests on Rodgers' aging shoulders for the Jets in 2024. Last season, we saw how ill-prepared the franchise was when Aaron went down just four snaps into his Week 1 debut.

At least New York has learned from that. It has fortified his offensive line, gotten Rodgers another receiver, and invested in Tyrod Taylor, a veteran to be Rodgers' backup.

But everything starts and stops with Rodgers.

With the four-time MVP winner knowing that this might be his last chance at glory, coupled with the Jets' desperate need for success, will he be able to shoulder all that pressure and lead New York to the NFL's penultimate game?

It looms as one of the biggest questions of the NFL season.
