Talk About Pressure: Texas A&M Student Nails a Kick on GameDay for $50,000

On ESPN's College GameDay Pat McAfee has a stunt where he pulls a student out of the hyped-up crowd to kick a 33-yard field goal for a weekly prize.

The Home Depot kitty was at $25,000 for this first feature game of the regular Saturday calendar when McAfee tabbed a Texas A&M undergrad named Lucas to kick the 33-yard field goal. Kirk Herbstreit put a pad under his knee, in his suit, to serve as the holder.

Lucas said he was a former soccer player, brimming with confidence. "Kicking field goals is EASY," he said. "I'll make this no problem."

Herbstreit put a finger on the nose of the ball and Lucas lined it up, wearing a Texas A&M polo and black shorts.

The kick hooked left and short.

But the amped-up Aggie crowd chanted "One more chance! One more chance!"

Ever the showman, McAfee bent the rules of football and let him line up another one.

This one sailed high and true and the estimated 10,000 strong hollered like a 12th man had come down out of the stands to win one for the Aggies.

And McAfee presented an oversized Home Depot check to Lucas for $50,000, crossing out the $25,000 it was written for.

It was way better than that playoff halftime thing where kids throw footballs with a basketball chest pass for scholarship money.
