    Zack's Scouting Report On Beebe

    By Adam Schultz,

All offseason for the Dallas Cowboys, eyes were on rookie Cooper Beebe to see if he could win the center battle with Brock Hoffman.

After Tyler Biadasz left for the Washington Commanders in free agency, a spot in Dak Prescott's protection opened up, and it was down to two players - Hoffman and Beebe.

While Hoffman started OTAs and training camp in the lead, it soon became apparent that Beebe would overtake him. After stacking good days in Oxnard and then playing some good football in Dallas' three preseason games, Beebe has made the center position his own.

And when future Hall of Famer Zack Martin has high praise for you, you know you're doing something right.

"He's really strong powerful guy at the point of attack," Martin said of Beebe. "He's a smart guy, and he works his tail off. Ever since he got here, whether it be snapping, ID'ing defenses, he's put a lot of time into it, and he's continued to get better each week."

But while Beebe has shown promise this offseason, his journey is only half done.

Now he has to take what he's learned in the offseason and put it into practice in real NFL action, and you couldn't have gotten a tougher test out of the gate than Jim Schwartz's stellar Cleveland Browns defense.

But while the Browns possess one of the best defenses in football, the Cowboys can feel content in their offensive line protecting Prescott after seeing the group go through their paces all offseason.

The regular season is a different beast, and Beebe has clearly "won" the center battle with Hoffman. Now, he has to translate his preseason form into the regular season.

And we have little doubt that he'll do just that.
