In the lingo of today's social media generation, Joe Douglas just "clapped back."

Responding to a scathing story by The Athletic this week that outlined "disarray" throughout the New York Jets' organization, the general manager responded emphatically that the ship is actually sailing along smoothly toward a season filled with Super Bowl hope.

The story - which quoted an anonymous agent - said the distractions of Haason Reddick's holdout and Aaron Rodgers' off-field antics were sabotaging the Jets' locker-room chemistry.

"There is complete disarray over there," The Athletic wrote. "Look at how they've handled Aaron Rodgers. Has one player had more power than him? He skipped minicamp. They have been unable to convert him into a team player. The vibe inside the building is terrible."

Douglas held a press conference in the wake of the team finalizing its initial 53-man roster and addressed the story directly.

"I can tell you the locker room is in a phenomenal place," the GM said. "Training camp was unbelievable. The energy, the passion, the togetherness that the team shows has been pretty remarkable. So, I understand we got to talk about this ... but the locker room is in a good place."

Furthermore, Douglas refuted The Athletic's claims that Rodgers had become a detriment to the team.

"He's amazing," Douglas said. "I mean obviously a first ballot Hall of Famer, and there's days where he goes out there and just doesn't miss, just the command he has of the offense, the ability to get the offense into the right play against the right defense, the accuracy, the delivery, the leadership."
