The Miami Marlins (49-86) continue to push toward a 100-loss season. Missing many key players due to injury has definitely not helped them this season. This is the latest injury news and updates for the Miami Marlins.

    Day-to-Day

    RHP Declan Cronin

Cronin (3-3, 4.65 ERA; left knee discomfort) left his Thursday outing with left knee discomfort. On Friday, Manager Skip Schumaker said that Cronin was feeling much better. With Cronin feeling better, he should be good to go for Saturday or Sunday.

    10/15-Day Injured List

    SS Xavier Edwards

Edwards (mild back extensor soreness) went on the IL on August 26th. He has traveled with the club to San Francisco and is slated to progress with activities as tolerated. Schumaker does not expect the injured list stint to last longer than 10 days. Edwards is expected to return during the September 3rd-September 8th homestand.

    RHP Anthony Bender

Bender (4-2, 4.00 ERA) was scheduled to throw 25-30 pitches in a bullpen session on August 28th. He is expected to return within the next two weeks.

    LHP Andrew Nardi

Nardi (3-2, 5.07 ERA; left elbow muscle injury) came to the ballpark on August 23rd saying his arm felt tight. The Marlins placed him on the injured list for him to rest and recoup but they do not expect him to miss more than the two weeks.

    60-Day Injured List

    LHP Josh Simpson

Simpson (left elbow ulnar neuritis) had back-to-back outings for the first time on his rehab stint on August 28th and 29th. He has now made eight rehab appearances. The Marlins expect to activate Simpson from the injured list within the next week.

    RHP Sandy Alcantara

Alcantara ( Tommy John surgery) threw a 35-pitch bullpen session on August 27th in Denver. He will not return this season.

    LHP Braxton Garrett

Garrett (2-2, 5.35 ERA; left forearm flexor strain) was scheduled to throw a 35-pitch up-and-down session on August 27th for his third bullpen session. Barring any setbacks, Garrett is expected to return before the season's end.

    LHP Ryan Weathers

Weathers (3-5, 3.55 ERA) threw a 35-pitch up-and-down bullpen session on August 26th. He was scheduled to throw two innings of live batting practice or 35 pitches on August 29th. Weathers is expected to return before the season's end.

    OF Dane Myers

Myers (left ankle fracture) wrote on his Instagram that he has been cleared to begin baseball activities. He was transferred to the 60-day injured list on August 25th but is still expected to return this season.
