The Clemson Tigers have produced offensive weapons like wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins, quarterback Trevor Lawrence, and quarterback Deshaun Watson in the past. The Tigers won nine games last season, the fewest in the Dabo Swinney era since 2010.

Clemson made headlines in Week 1 after an incredible catch by one of its players. Tight end Jake Briningstool made a one-handed catch over a Georgia Bulldogs defender for a first down during the second half.

The last time that Clemson and Georgia played each other was in 2021. Georgia won that game by a score of 10-3.

Briningstool finished third on the team in receiving yards last season with 498 and picked up where he left off in the season opener. He was a former four-star tight end in the 2021 class out of Brentwood, Tennessee. Briningstool was the No. 3 TE and No. 2 recruit from Tennessee in the 2021 class, per the On3 Industry Rankings .

Many people, from fans to media members, talked about Briningstool's catch.

Clemson hopes to return to the ACC Championship after a brief hiatus in 2023. The Tigers last played the North Carolina Tar Heels for the ACC title in 2022. The Tigers ended that season at 11-3.

Clemson returns players such as quarterback Cade Klubnik, running back Phil Mafah, linebacker Barrett Carter, and defensive tackle Peter Woods.
