The Alabama Crimson Tide were playing under a new coaching staff heading into the 2024-25 college football season. After the retirement of head coach Nick Saban, the Kalen DeBoer era began in Tuscaloosa.

While the staff may have changed in UA, their quarterback stayed the same.

Jalen Milroe was heading into his second season as the starter for the Crimson Tide. He led the Tide to an SEC Championship appearance in 2023, finishing the season with 23 touchdowns and 2,834 yards.

Milroe had experience and comfortability coming into the season and that was on full display in Alabama's Week 1 matchup against Western Kentucky.

In the first half of the game, where Bama went into the locker room with a 42-0 lead, Milroe was already showing his improvement in the new year.

In the first 30 minutes, he went 4-of-6 on 169 yards, throwing for three touchdowns. He also had a touchdown and 50 yards on the ground.

Despite losing Saban to retirement, Alabama seems to be in good hands with Karen DeBoer and Jalen Milroe.

The former Washington head coach led the Huskies to the National Title last season, falling short of a championship after losing to the Michigan Wolverines 34-13.

DeBoer and the Huskies had a top-three offense in the nation, most notably when it comes to air yards, pass attempts and plays downfield.

He's brought that offensive mindset to Tuscaloosa and it seems to be working for Milroe and the Tide.
