Arch Manning Earns Massive Comparison in First Appearance for Texas

Arch Manning may still be No. 2 on the depth chart in Texas, but he's already reached rock star status in Austin.

The sophomore quarterback, backup to starter Quinn Ewers, made his season debut late in the team's 52-0 win over Colorado State on Saturday. Manning completed a 40-yard pass to Johntay Cook, then threw his first collegiate touchdown on a 5-yard pass to Silas Bolden.

The score was one for the highlight reel, with Manning scrambling to evade pressure before flipping a pass to Bolden. The former top recruit added a 1-yard rushing touchdown in the fourth quarter, ending the game 5-for-6 for 95 yards.

But even before the strong performance, Manning got a big reaction from the crowd in Austin. As reporter Cedrid Golden noted, Manning entered the game to an ovation normally saved for rock stars.

"Arch Manning just got a roar normally reserved for people like Taylor Swift and Beyonce. Dude is a rock star and he's only thrown six college passes," Golden wrote on X ."
